[Edgeworth is waiting in the library the next day, frowning a touch severely down at the digital book he's picked off the shelf. He's been there for most of the day, but he has a good sense of the time; he knows that it's near to the time when the young lady would be arriving.]

[Wanda is there five to ten minutes early, dressed in her usual Ultimates uniform. It's a great deal more aggressive looking than her Brotherhood uniform, and she hasn't put on the one she died in. Finding no others in the library, she approaches with a polite smile, noting his frown immediately.]

Is the book so terrible?

[Which is an opening salvo which takes him by surprise. Frowning is simply a natural state of being for him, and he's typically not cognizant of it, so he's altogether not certain what she's referring to; he looks up, his brows furrowed, certain from the woman's voice that this is whom he's meeting, but - ]

[Of course, she could be wrong but it seems as easy an opening for conversation as any. Wanda offers a polite smile and offers out her hand.]

Wanda Maximoff. I believe you're expecting me?

Indeed. Please - take a seat.

[His frown is now edging decidedly into self-conscious territory; he shakes his head and tries to shake that off. Indeed, to compensate, he tries to be even more impressive:]

I hope you'll not mind if we dispense with any "small talk" and simply get to the topic at hand?

[So it begins.

Wanda sits, because she wants to and because he's said please. As for skipping the small talk, she'll give him that and...take advantage of the opening to launch into her questions first.]

Of course. Perhaps you might start by detailing the role and goals of the SEC team?

[Hmph...He's usually more accustomed to people being slightly scandalized by his lack of manners and reacting accordingly - not simply moving ahead. Well, she has the advantage, then.]

As a matter of course. The goal of security is to maintain order above all else. We run patrols twice daily to monitor security and deal with any conflicts which might arise.

[Wanda doesn't think she'll keep her advantage indefinitely, but then she doesn't mind because what would be the fun in that?]

And are there many conflicts that necessitates SEC stepping in?

You'll have access to the records if you decide to join. Have you given thought to that?

[That isn't a yes or a no. Wanda doesn't mind keeping active, though she does wonder if there's anything he's hiding in not answering directly.]

I have, a great deal of thought. [And she's spoken to Clint about it as well.] I've yet to hear anything that might sway me against joining, but I have questions still. For instance can members step down at their discretion?

[He nods.]

Are there any rules or restrictions I should be aware of before joining?

You'll be expected, of course, to train physically if you've no real combat skills.

[There's just the slightest disgruntled expression that passes over his face at that; it's gone after a moment.]

You'll also be held to certain standards of conduct. If you abuse your position in any way you'll be removed from it.

[Wanda nods. That's something she expects of herself, regardless. His disgruntled expression makes her smile with just a tip of the corners of her lips, however. As a lawyer she doubts he very much likes the required training aspect of things.]

Neither of those will be a problem. I train daily already, and I've no intention of abusing whatever authority is given to me.

[Which is an opening she'll give him if he'd like to ask some questions of his own.]

[He nods and responds to her openness with a very open question of his own.]

What would you offer the team?

[She thinks more of him for asking the question as he does, allowing her to answer as she will.]

I've been trained in hand-to-hand combat and acrobatics, and have several years field experience working both as part of a team as well as on my own. Both in an offensive and defensive capacity.

[Wanda pauses to take a deep breath.]

My greatest asset however is the fact that I'm a mutant. Are you familiar with the term and what it generally entails?

[He tips his head very slightly to the side; his brows draw very faintly together. But it's from surprise, not confusion.]
