And who exactly is Tyke and what are her qualifications?

[The question is curiously asked, rather than with any sort of indignant tone. After all, someone placed in such a position of power is someone that Wanda needs to know about.

She does stand and take his arm when offered however, and with a smile at that. Wanda finds it easy to be in the company of gentlemen with manners.]

Jesse! He has the ability to remove and grant powers.

Tyke is the head of the department. This way, if you will.

[He bows his head slightly, making his way out of the library and into the hall. He glosses over the issue of qualifications, because if he were to admit that in his opinion she essentially has none, that would sound...Well. Quite disloyal. So instead:]

She'll also be responsible for training you, if physical strength is found lacking - but it sounds as though that won't be a problem.

Ah, I see. I don't expect it will be a problem but if she requires a show of skill I can oblige.

[It smacks too much of an audition, but then no one here knows her or her skills so it can't be helped.

Wanda allows Miles to lead them on, taking note of the path they take.]

How would you describe her, if I may ask? How is she as a leader?

[A bit shortly:]

[But that's not sufficient, he knows. So:]

Her manner is abrupt; don't let her put you off.

[That makes her smile.]

It won't. If you knew my brother you would know that.

[He clears his throat.]

I wouldn't necessarily count on that. She is...very off-putting.

[Wanda raises an eyebrow, and after a moment shrugs.]

As you say. I suppose I'll have to find out for myself then, though I don't anticipate any problems.

[He relents:]

I hope not, to be certain. In any case -

[He turns and stops before a door.]

In this room is a small exercise area which we on security have taken over. There's an area where we may spar as well.

[Wanda nods, stopping when he does.]

Does every group on board have a place they've claimed for themselves?

I suppose one might say so. The flight crew has the shuttle bay; the agriculture grew has the oxygen gardens.

That makes sense. Shall we?

[She nods to the door, expecting him to open it when he's ready.]

[He nods and releases her arm to open the door. At once he heads inside and begins removing his suit jacket, folding it cautiously and setting it on a bench where it won't get mussed.]

[Wanda meanwhile is in her Ultimates uniform, so as he adjusts his clothing, she's stretching her arms and legs, this and that to prepare for a light sparring session with Edgeworth.]

Did you learn to fight before you arrived here?

[It's embarrassing to admit, of course, but he confesses:]

No.

[It's nothing to be ashamed of, as far as Wanda's concerned. He mentioned he was a lawyer, and this just gives her an idea of how easy she'll need to start out to begin with.]

It's good that you've take advantage of the opportunity.

[He frowns slightly.]

I'd sooner I hadn't had to.

[And then he turns towards her, rolling up his shirtsleeves.]

No world is so perfect that people don't have to take measures to learn to protect themselves, through preventative or defensive measures.

[It's the way of life, and Wanda lifts her shoulders in a shrug as she moves to stand opposite him.]

Do you have any particular way you do things? So many rounds? Anything off-limits with regards to powers perhaps?

[He frowns at that statement - but a moment later, his face is composed; he bows.]

Nothing that would damage the surrounding environs; nothing that would cause true injury to the other party. Again, the point of this is simply to prove your fitness, not ultimately to prevail, so do what you must to display your capabilities.

Are you prepared?

I am.

[And because she is the one that is to be put to the test, she takes an alert stance, subtly shifting her weight to the balls of her feet as she steps closer.

For a moment, she's content to take a moment to study him, to move slowly and see if he'll go on the offense or not.]

[He just stays still, however; his posture is wary, but he doesn't drop into any sort of defensive stance.]

[Very well.

When it seems that he too waits to see if she'll make the first move, she steps forward into action. She starts first with a feint from her left hand, testing, before following with a kick she expects he'll block if he's competent enough to do so.]

[She's certainly fast, and he knows essentially as soon as she moves that she's going to be better than he is. He's been training enough with Tyke that he is able to block the kick, though only just; as soon as he has blocked it, he steps back and away.

His counterattack is done from that distance. He uses the power of his mind to jerk her ankle out from under her while she's still on one leg - though it's gentler than it might be, because much of his concentration is given over to preparing to cushion her fall if she's in danger of hurting herself.]

[He's successful in jerking her leg out from under her. His power doesn't seem to be anything physically visible, which makes it harder to predict and block. Then again, her father's mutant power isn't visible so this isn't impossible to her, just challenging.

She hits the mats but immediately tumbles into a roll and slides back onto her feet immediately. If they're using powers, well, alright then. Wanda sends a hex bolt toward his feet. If it doesn't hit him directly, it will certainly bunch up the material around him to trip him up.]

[That was...rather spectacular, actually, and for a moment he's absorbed in seeing the physical manifestation of her ability rather than actually defending himself and fighting. Consequently, he's late jumping backwards to avoid it, and so the bolt does hit the ground and it does trip him.

Fortunately, he's quick-thinking with his power now; he uses it to slow his fall and support himself, so that he pushes back onto his feet. He's certainly, however, on the defensive now.]

[Since he's upped the ante a bit, Wanda continues more aggressively, approaching quickly and going in for another kick, and a jab if he can't think quickly enough to block her after a fall.

Her eyes are watching him quickly, carefully as she does, however, waiting for any sign of a tell if and when he chooses to use his power again.]
